DOI MAACH, it’s an authentic Bengali recipe for the main course. Bengalis prepare this authentic recipe on a special occasion at home and celebration. This unique delicious recipe always part of the menu at wedding ceremonies, Family gets together, birthday parties, etc. DOI MAACH is one of the most favorite and popular recipes of all age groups. This delicious, tasty recipe engages guests in every celebration.

A basic DOI MAACH is a smooth, delicious, flavored curd base Rohu / Katla fish curry. DOI MAACH is served with steamed rice.

        

Preparation Time: 1Hours | Frying Time: 30 Minutes |Serving – 5 |

Ingredient:-

  • 500 gm Rohu Fish
  • 50 gm Raisins.
  • 2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Cumin Seed Powder.
  • 1 Tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder.
  • 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder.
  • 1 Tsp Sugar.
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 4 pcs Bay Leaves
  • 2 Pcs Green cardamom
  • 4 Pcs Cloves.
  • 1-inch piece of Cinnamon.
  • 3 Tbsp. Ghee
  • 2 Pcs Sliced Onion
  • 2 Pcs Onion
  • 2 Pcs Tomato
  • 4 Tbsp. Curds
  • 8 Tbsp. Mustard Oil.
  • Water

Preparation: –

 

  1. Take 4 Tbsp. mustard oil in a frying pan and allow the oil to get heated then place sliced fish coated with turmeric and salt. And fry both sides of the sliced fish in low flame for 5 mins each. Post that Light brown fried fish keep aside.
  2. Now Fry sliced onion in the same frying pan till it becomes golden brown and keeps aside.
  1. Add 4 Tbsp. + 2 Tbsp. Ghee in the same frying pan awaits till oil gets warm. Then put 4pcs bay leave, 2 Pcs Green cardamom, 4 Pcs Cloves, 1-inch piece Cinnamon fry them till it releases flavor. Post that adds 50 gm Raisins and fries it and then gradually adds Tomato paste, onion paste all other spices fry for 5 mins post that and curd and mix it well. Now add fried fish into the gravy and one bowl of water. Cook the gravy for 20 mins (3mins on High flame + 17 mins on low flame) and cover with a lid.

  1. After 20 mins remove the lid and see that oil is on the top of the gravy means. Doi Maach is ready. Now put the fried onion on the gravy on the top of the gravy and gradually mixed it up.
  2. Transfer the Doi March to a bowl and Serve with Rice.
